- Caught up with the emails.
- Went through the boot logs of the ThinkPad and reported all issues that looked suspicious to me:
* https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2432848
* https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2432859
* https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2432860
* https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2432861
- Did some of the paperwork in Workday.

2026-01-28 09:05:00
- Checked the status of the opened PRs for Fedora-Easy-Karma and Fedora Media Writer.
- Fixed one issue reported by Petr -> Fedora Easy Karma will not allow a wrong product anymore (so it will never crash at it), dismissed the other one where `-99` could be added instead of karma, which leads to skipping the karma reporting process and moves to the next one. The behaviour matches the previous behaviour in the old script, so I decided to leave it. We can create another ticket for it, if we need it.
- Started to work on the basic networking test.
- Attended meetings

2026-01-29 12:05:00
- Improved the Fedora Media Writer PR based on the Adam's and AI's review.

2026-01-30 13:40:00
- Wrote the basic networking server set up for openQA, connected it with the client VM and started to work on the client test.

2026-02-03 09:04:00
- The test for Fedora Media Writer got finally merged (https://forge.fedoraproject.org/quality/os-autoinst-distri-fedora/pulls/462)
- Worked on the Basic Networking tests - I have a working proof of concept to follow the written test case.

- (Forgot to send out yesterday) FOSDEM talk prep, RISC-V hardware benchmarks, continued.
- Filled some forms for Tenstorrent Blackhole hardware.
- Good news: We now have RISC-V Copr chroots! – these are emulated, but still very usfeul for community packagers to be able to build / test their packages.
- Created an [ELN ticket](https://issues.redhat.com/browse/RISCV-155) to track the diff b/n ELN content set and packages that are still on Fedora RISC-V tracker.
- Several meetings.

2026-02-02 16:22:00
- Co-organized the [RISC-V track](https://fosdem.org/2026/schedule/track/risc-v/) at FOSDEM. A lot of running around. Stuck in a window-less room. Almost all talks were full.
- Finished my own [talk on the state of Fedora](https://fosdem.org/2026/schedule/event/SQGLW7-fedora-on-riscv/) on RISC-V. [Slides](https://kashyapc.fedorapeople.org/fedora-riscv-fosdem2026.pdf) and video are up, for those who care. It was standing only audience; and I'm told it went well. (I was nervous at the start, but relaxed as the talk went on.)

- lots of scrum meetings and board cleanup, joy...but hey, [the board](https://forge.fedoraproject.org/quality/-/projects/323) is looking pretty good
- openQA test failure investigations:
- PK dnf5 backend [breaks cockpit FreeIPA enrolment intermittently](https://github.com/PackageKit/PackageKit/issues/940)
- the switch to kmsconvt isn't [going](https://bodhi.fedoraproject.org/updates/FEDORA-2026-b5d576a628#comment-4528480) [smoothly](https://bodhi.fedoraproject.org/updates/FEDORA-2026-0b2b8265d2#comment-4528511)
- [Bad awk dep](https://bodhi.fedoraproject.org/updates/FEDORA-2026-d8a6fc8885#comment-4528483) in an audit update
- mock-core-configs update [should have been grouped with](https://bodhi.fedoraproject.org/updates/FEDORA-2026-a7d9ab9aad#comment-4528487), or waited for, distribution-gpg-keys update
- more [borkage](https://github.com/shadow-maint/shadow/issues/1519) in shadow's new hash check, [sent a fix](https://github.com/shadow-maint/shadow/pull/1520)
- [reviewed](https://forge.fedoraproject.org/quality/os-autoinst-distri-fedora/pulls/462#issuecomment-351917) the fedora-media-writer test PR again

2026-01-29 19:44:00
- [backported](https://bodhi.fedoraproject.org/updates/FEDORA-2026-8cadc84c43) the shadow hash check regex fix to rawhide
- [backported](https://bodhi.fedoraproject.org/updates/FEDORA-2026-293c809594) the gnome-shell / pipewire crash fix to f42
- checked an [issue the installer team hit](https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2433929) with their CI images, but found it's not affecting official or openQA-built images
- rest of the day on metastatizing consequences of a plasma-login timeout change: I thought it'd just need some quick changes to the tests, but it exposed multiple other issues that made it more or less impossible to adapt the tests reliably, so I had to investigate those and report them - [Activity besides typing a password does not reset idle countdown](https://invent.kde.org/plasma/plasma-login-manager/-/issues/42), [most keypresses don't wake screen from idle state](https://invent.kde.org/plasma/plasma-login-manager/-/issues/43), [login screen doesn't go idle in some cases when it should](https://invent.kde.org/plasma/plasma-login-manager/-/issues/44)

2026-01-30 17:34:00
- looked into [os-autoinst build failure](https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2435305) on rawhide, turns out to be caused by a [tigervnc package change](https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2435326)
- restarted a few openQA flakes, reported systemd still [failing to bring up ttys](https://bodhi.fedoraproject.org/updates/FEDORA-2026-8c83517ced#comment-4531261)
- rest of the day on a rabbit hole dive into a cockpit update failing openQA tests which turned out to track into [glib](https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/glib/-/issues/3879) (via PackageKit) and both [firefox](https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=2013444) and [chromium](https://issues.chromium.org/issues/479862357) Javascript engines' interpretations of ISO 8601-ish date/time formatting; [sent a PR](https://github.com/cockpit-project/cockpit/pull/22828) to fix/workaround the problem in cockpit

2026-02-02 18:44:00
- tried to get some folks to [test some grub changes](https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2427945#c27)
- looked into os-autoinst still failing tests on rawhide, turns out to be some kinda [rawhide-only issue in leptonica](https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2435534)
- got a LibreOffice build [untagged](https://forge.fedoraproject.org/releng/tickets/issues/13194) that was causing lots of failures, sent a new build
- finally merged Lukas' [openQA FMW test](https://forge.fedoraproject.org/quality/os-autoinst-distri-fedora/pulls/462)
- found a KDE update test failure was actually caused by a shadow 4.19 change causing anaconda to create users with incorrectly SELinux-labelled home directories, [sent a fix](https://github.com/rhinstaller/anaconda/pull/6881)
- noticed aarch64 disk installs failing since shadow 4.19 landed, [reported a bug](https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2435621) but didn't have time to investigate it yet
- [tweaked openQA login tests to work reliably](https://forge.fedoraproject.org/quality/os-autoinst-distri-fedora/pulls/487) with plasma-login-manager's 10 second timeout
