2026-01-14 11:39:00
- More in-depth debugging of the corrupted DWARF issue with `readelf`, `xxd, `ar\`, and other tools. We have a workaround in progress. Three bugs are tracking it: [debugedit](https://sourceware.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=33789), [binutils](https://sourceware.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=33723), and [Fedora](https://forge.fedoraproject.org/riscv/planning/issues/1#issuecomment-260974) (this has the current summary).
- Created several [debug artifacts](https://kashyapc.fedorapeople.org/risc-v/rebuilds-f43/debugedit-issue/) to investigate the `debugedit` issue. (Details: We have about 1433 packages that build something that include `*.a` (archive) file that is likely buggy.)
- Fedora hardware coordination - TODO: file a Forge ticket
- Meetings: RISC-V "distro integration" call and some internal calls.
- Coordinated FOSDEM RVI package shipment.

2026-01-16 11:09:00
- Wrote a short [follow-up update](https://discussion.fedoraproject.org/t/follow-up-fedora-43-risc-v-status/179519) on F43 RISC-V to the community.
- Discussed with a few folks from the Fedora RISC-V SIG about exploring ways to release what we have with a caveat. Most of F43 has ready to go for several months. All the Fedora RISC-V builders have been running F43 for a couple of months. Just this paralyzing bug that's been taking a lot of time. To be continued.
- Investigated `qemu-system-riscv64` behaviour on RISC-V vs. x86 hardware. There's some weird behavior going on with QEMU and KVM. A KVM guest doesn't even launch on DP1000. Need to investigate it separately.
- Did some crude benchmarks on UltraRISC DP1000 machine: a 'binutils' Fedora build on DP1000. It took 33 mins, while on P550 it took compared to P550. An `xz` compression [benchmark with single- and multi-threading](https://kashyapc.fedorapeople.org/risc-v/logs/xz-bench-dp1000.txt).

- Dug a little bit into a libgcrypt [build failure](https://riscv-koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/buildinfo?buildID=60215) with Nick Clifton and David.

2026-01-19 11:43:00
- Caught up with the 'binutils' RISC-V patch [discussion](https://sourceware.org/pipermail/binutils/2026-January/147334.html). (I'll hold off testing this, as there's likely to be a v2.)
- Continued writing and researching the FOSDEM [talk](https://fosdem.org/2026/schedule/event/SQGLW7-fedora-on-riscv/).

- looked through all currently-gated rawhide updates in advance of the mass rebuild, listed ones that shouldn't be merged [on the mass rebuild ticket](https://forge.fedoraproject.org/releng/tickets/issues/13150#issuecomment-262016), investigated and commented on many of the others
- reported toolbox [suddenly not working at all](https://github.com/containers/toolbox/issues/1736), rather interfering with my ability to do any more work
- started looking into a large number of rawhide compose tests [failing during package install](https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2430281), didn't figure out the cause yet
- reported an authselect update [breaking freeipa uninstall](https://bodhi.fedoraproject.org/updates/FEDORA-2026-8a3906ef4b#comment-4516638)

- figured out the install fails, turned out to be [grub not understanding new XFS options](https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2430281#c11) (then I found somebody else [already reported it a day earlier](https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2429501), sigh)
- figured out why my toolbox containers were broken, it's [another bug in shadow 4.19](https://github.com/shadow-maint/shadow/issues/1509)
- looked at psklenar's latest cloud test bits

2026-01-13 08:33:00
- Tested the updated Media Writer on Staging with mostly passing results, however I realized that some fixes I have made do not work on Silverblue and that one of the CLI tests that Kamil requires behaves weirdly in openQA. I was expecting a 0 return code and I am getting 1 instead, so the command checks fail. I tried everything without success. The last option is to use a needle to check the output, which I wanted to avoid so much.

2026-01-15 10:03:00
- Tested the Fedora Media Writer suite on Staging -> Workstation (both arches), Silverblue -> it was working normally.
- Spent time trying to implement a request to replace the qemu's parameter `-drive` into `-blockdev` - the latest results came out positive, more Staging tests needed now.
