===================

2026-01-13 08:33:00
- Tested the updated Media Writer on Staging with mostly passing results, however I realized that some fixes I have made do not work on Silverblue and that one of the CLI tests that Kamil requires behaves weirdly in openQA. I was expecting a 0 return code and I am getting 1 instead, so the command checks fail. I tried everything without success. The last option is to use a needle to check the output, which I wanted to avoid so much.

2026-01-12 09:37:00
- Could not proceed with the Staging tests due to disturbances.
- Read several chapters on Vim usage in the hope of adopting more Vim commands to increase productivity, cleaned my office, installed new audio speakers and rewired all the cables.

2026-01-09 15:52:00
- Explored various ways to force qemu to not create a lock on a disk file simulating the USB. Ended up with a possible solution and tested it locally -> qemu should create a snapshot of the underlying file and should not lock it. It seems to be working fine but it needs to be tested on staging.

2026-01-08 11:42:00
- Revised the Quarterly Connections.
- Inspected why Fedora Media Writer would fail frequently - the test did not fail per se, although Adam would have suggested it, but it failed a lot on locking the assets.

2026-01-07 09:49:00
- Bumped the Freedesktop SDK again to version 25.08, also had to bump the libtirpc version to 1.3.7, rebuilt the flatpak and made sure it works locally, then updated the PR and passed the tests. Tested the built application. PR got accepted and merged, see https://github.com/flathub/io.github.lruzicka.Needly/pull/14. Flathub statistics show that the application has been downloaded about a 2000 times already. Did not know that there were so many openQA test developers.
- Finished reviewing the PR for Fedora Easy Karma's refactoring and sent it over to Kamil for another review (https://forge.fedoraproject.org/quality/fedora-easy-karma/pulls/72)
- Attended meetings in the afternoon.

2026-01-06 09:40:00
- * I received a request to update the Needly flatpak on Flathub to use the latest SDK (24.08)
* When I updated the version, the application had problems to build, so I tried to fix the errors, but realized that everything was really outdated and that it needed quite work to update to the latest version.
* Updated the manifest properly and build the application locally.

- Created a container-based [reproducer](https://kashyapc.fedorapeople.org/risc-v/rebuilds-f43/repro-setup-dwarf-error.txt) on a RISC-V machine for the [DWARF corruption bug](https://sourceware.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=33723#c11). We have a hypothesis for the root cause: Nick Clifton pointed out the 'add-determinism' tool (from the Reproduicible Builds project) might be modifying more than metadata inside archive files of libraries (e.g. `libtclstub.a`). This tool might be doing more than updating the archive metadata, thus causing the DWARF info corruption.
- Gave the new F43 [cloud image](https://riscv-koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/buildinfo?buildID=60149) a try. It hung for me in a QEMU guest. Didn't get time to look into it yet.

2026-01-09 10:55:00
- Worked with Nick to help him try a the DWARF error reproducer to no avail.
- Investigated kernel status for RISC-V. There is an `ostree` breakage with v6.18.3, trying to figure out if it's a real blocker or not.
- Continued writing the presentation outline for FOSDEM.
- Briefly investigated a QEMU-related thing related to disk hot-plugging and file locking. Turned out to be a non-issue in the end.

- Meetings.

2026-01-07 10:29:00
- Caught up with the current status of the upstream [blocker bug](https://sourceware.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=33723) in 'binutils' RISC-V. Followed up with Nick Clifton about debugging it on a physical RISC-V machine.
- Started preparing for FOSDEM [presentation](https://fosdem.org/2026/schedule/event/SQGLW7-fedora-on-riscv/) on Fedora RISC-V.
- Coordinated with RISC-V International (RVI) folks on a shipment for FOSDEM.
- Caught up with emails and Slack; several meetings.
